Eating healthy is easier than you think!

It’s difficult to keep up with the latest “nutrition news”, especially when conflicting stories seem to be the norm. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, feed your children, or just feel good about what you eat, being healthy can be a challenge.
Dinner Studio Portions
“Everything in Moderation,” isn’t that how the saying goes? Well, we live in a “SUPER-SIZED” country which has contributed to an unhealthy diet and high obesity rate. Dietitian Liz Monte explains “While increased sizes haven’t been the sole contributor to our obesity epidemic, large quantities of cheap food have distorted our perceptions of what a typical meal is supposed to look like.” Some experts say that in the past 20 years, the American portion size has more than doubled!
Dinner Studio portions will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. We strive to make a balanced menu and provide enough food value to satisfy your hunger without making you feel “stuffed” or sluggish. We strive for balanced nutritional information for every menu item, per serving amounts of: Total Calories, Total Fat, Saturated Fat, Sodium, Carbohydrates, Fiber, and Protein. The best thing about our dinners is that each is made one ingredient at a time. You have the ability to add Special Instructions to each dinner, which helps us make your dinner just the way you want it.
Too much salt… Not here!
Americans are consuming more salt than ever. It seems that salt is hidden in everything; to enhance flavor and preserve food. According to an online article in the Wall Street Journal, “Nearly 90% of adults consume more salt than U.S. dietary guidelines recommend. The best way to reduce salt is to cut back on processed and restaurant foods, eat fresh produce, and reduce portion sizes.” Consuming too much salt can lead to health problems such as hypertension and osteoporosis. Even “healthy” options like a sandwich from Subway, can contain more than your recommended daily intake of salt, for a 6” sub!
Here at the Dinner Studio, we use salt sparingly (we’re talking less than a 1/10th of teaspoon added per serving ). Even better, you can type “No Added Salt” in your Special Instructions and we’ll skip that step of the recipe. You can also substitute our pasta and bread side dishes for fresh-frozen vegetables and lower your salt intake even more. Even if you’re on a strict diet, Dinner Studio can work for you.
Fat: The Good, The Bad…
A healthy diet consists of fat, there’s no way around it. And according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, “Fat is essential for the proper functioning of the body. Fats provide essential fatty acids, which are not made by the body and must be obtained from food.” The question is, how much and what type of fat is okay?
Lean meats, boneless-skinless poultry, nuts, low-fat cheese, fish, and olive oil (olive oil contains monounsaturated fat, which will lower your risk of heart disease) make up the majority of the fats found in each and every one of our handmade recipes.
