How it’s Made
Have you ever seen the show How It’s Made on the Science Channel? They take an ordinary product like a boat propeller or duct tape and shows you the step by step process of production. We’re not going to record an average day at the Dinner Studio, (nobody would watch it), but we can give you the an idea of what goes in to each dinner we make.
Making Your Dinners
Your dinners are made by hand, in our kitchen, by us. On the day before your delivery or pickup date, we are busily cutting, chopping, slicing, preparing and packing your dinners. We’re not a franchise, a chain, or a gigantic food service conglomerate, we are a San Diego company that began in 2003 and we’re here to make dinners for you and provide your family with the best dinner option out there.
Seasonal Produce
We have a Seasonal Vegetable Chart in our office that we refer to regularly. When we have a great recipe idea or are designing an upcoming menu, we refer to this chart. Seasonal vegetables are fresher and tastier because they ripen on the vine or tree, just as nature intended. Much of the produce you see in the store, the items that aren’t seasonal, are imported from different countries or far off corners of the world. In order to arrive unspoiled, much of the produce is picked early and unnaturally ripens on a ship, a truck, or in a storage container in a commercial warehouse. It is so much easier to use seasonal produce, on everybody!
Meats and Poultry
Never frozen, Always fresh. That’s how all meats and poultry arrive at our kitchen. It would be easier to have big freezers to store frozen meats, we wouldn’t need to worry about freshness at all, just toss it in. But the flavor, texture, and quality we get from fresh meats is well worth the angst. Meat and poultry is cut and portioned by us, in our San Diego kitchen every day, which helps it stay fresher, longer. If you’re expecting an order tomorrow, you can count on your meat and poultry being cut today. That’s what we call Fresh!
Sustainable Seafood
We love the Ocean! Whether we’re making sandcastles or jumping in the waves with our kids, watching a sunset with loved ones or hanging ten on our Long board (or at least trying to) the Ocean is a beautiful thing. And with all that beauty, it’s still in trouble. Overfishing of some of our most important species threatens to disturb the delicate ecosystems that keep everything in balance. For that reason, we only use Sustainable Seafood Products endorsed by Monterrey Bay Aquarium, Oceana, John G. Shedd Aquarium, and Greenpeace. Dietary Variety
Did you know a diet rich in variety gives your body more vitamins and nutrients it needs to stay healthy? With a menu of over 30 menu items that changes every two weeks, you and your family will be getting dietary variety without even thinking about it!
